Itacaré
receives good waves all year around. The climatic conditions are constantly
changing alowing the practice of surfing year round. Great swells can come during
any season. Underwater trenches and Geographical conditions make Itacaré
one of the best places in Brazil to practice surfing. The water's temperature
is always warm between 23 and 30 degrees Celsius. A rash guard is necessary
to feel confortable on the colder days (when discomfort
between the warm water and the cold wind may happen) as well as protection
against the sun . Boards should be for hollow waves but
also allowing thicker waves, and should be between 6'0" and 6'10"
(around 6'4" for the beach breaks during winter and 6'0" in
summer).

:: SUMMER
(December to March) ::
Smaller waves and some swells that can take characteristics of winter
surf. Very hot climate with off shore's in the morning and shore winds
in the afternoon. The city is full of tourists from all over Brazil and
other countries and nightlife is very lively. There is usually a big swell
in March that marks the start of the annual surf season.
:: WINTER
(June to September) ::
Medium
to big waves between 1 and 3 meters. Successive cold fronts and lots of
waves everyday. More possibility of rain and the average temperature is between
19 and 24 degrees Celsius. In July the city turns itself into an authentic
surf city when surfers from all over Brazil rush in for the winter.
It's
holiday time in southeast and southern Brazil and that brings a cool group
of people to Itacaré. Lively nightlife and powerful waves with
less crowds in the morning or when it gets big.
:: SPRING
(September to December) and AUTUMN (March to June) ::
Spring and Autumn have similar characteristics. Medium size waves with
lots of perfection. The city only has crowds during the weekends. Lots
of offshore winds during the morning and barreling waves too. |
